We always geek out over ceramics and Brooke Winfrey's modern and approachable btw ceramics is one of the brands we dig a lot. Based out of Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood, Brooke is constantly in the studio and continually inspired. Each piece she makes is one of a kind and crafted with a sense of playful sophistication - functional and well-designed. Her work is influenced by the motto "Embrace the Irregular" and with this expanded 10Q (supersized 15Q!) we embrace Brooke for all of her irregularities. Check out btw ceramics in both our stores and in Wittmore's online shop!

Whom do you admire?
My drum instructor Paula Spiro. She’s one of the raddest, most bad ass people I’ve ever met. She’s beyond encouraging and makes everything seem possible with practice. Every time I talk to her I walk away with great nuggets of wisdom and a giant smile on my face. Anyone who always makes your day better and brighter is worth admiration in my book.

What are your favorite 5 musical artists that you can't live without?

Kidding, though I have been obsessed since I was 7 and saw Labyrinth for the first time. I’m also a big fan of The Clash, The Distillers, NOFX, and The Raincoats.

What's the first thing that comes to mind to describe your personal style?
Is "messy cute" a style? It’s rare that my pants aren’t covered in clay and my hair’s not in a quick pony tail just to keep it out of the way. My collection of t-shirts from when I was 14 is still my go to everyday wear so I haven’t changed my style all that much since I was a teenager.

What is the biggest inspiration for your line?I guess I’d say day to day life. I’m constantly looking around for eye catching textures and patterns. Then I find a way to put my own spin on them and integrate them into my work.

What's your favorite global city and what's your preferred airline to get there?
Besides New York, I’ve always had a lot of fun in Berlin. It’s potentially politically incorrect, but I find the split that’s still so obvious between East and West Berlin really fascinating. My favorite airline is always the one that’s least expensive.

Who is your favorite modern artist?
Louise Bourgeois
. No matter how many times I see it, her work always stops me in my tracks.

What was the first car you ever owned, and what car would you buy right now?
I actually still own the first car I’ve ever owned. 2002 Ford Focus. I wouldn’t call it my ideal but it runs. It’s affectionately named The Beater.

Where are you most comfortable?
Sitting at my wheel with a big glob of porcelain in front of me. When I’ve just started a new piece, before anything is formed, is my happy place.

Name the most inspiring place you've ever seen first hand?
Piha. Coolest beach I’ve seen so far.

What future tech gadget should be invented?
I’m so not a techy I’m likely to suggest something that already exists…do replicators exist yet? If not, they really should.

What animal are you?
A fruit bat. They fly around, live in trees and eat fruit all day. Sounds pretty good to me!

Do you have a daily routine?
I go to the same coffee place every morning and without fail get the largest coffee they make.

Choose a superpower.

Flying. I really like to travel and if I could avoid the whole airport-plane-layover thing, I would do it in a heartbeat. I will forever be jealous of Superwoman.

What's your beverage of choice? (alcoholic or not)
At the moment, I am obsessed with IPLs. So good.

How do you like your guacamole: mild, medium or spicy?
Yes please! I’m a guac fiend, so any and every way, I’ll take it!
